Gaim 1.5.0, an instant messaging client that supports the SILC network protocol can't connect to silc servers if the Gaim-account for silc is created while the system users comment field (i.e. the one you modify with "usermod -c") is empty. The connection aborts with "malformed realname". This issue does NOT occure if the comment field was set while creating the Gaim- account and was set to "" *after* creating the account in Gaim because Gaim takes the comment fields content only on account creation and stores the value in its configfile. As far as I understood the problem (see URL privied as URL) it is some kind of incorrect UTF8- string handling with silc - but I am absolutely not sure if this should be treated as a bug in silc-toolkit or a bug in Gaim or if it even *is* a bug at all. So I suggest to modify the ebuild of gaim 1.5.0 so it gives a short information about this issue after emerging.
