There's a new sun JDK 1.4.2 release out with version 1.4.2_11. Current ebuilds only include 1.4.2_10 . See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html Thx alot!

Could someone please update sun-jdk to the new version? I think it is not so hard to do this.
Please update to recent version to let peple use the stable java versoin once more. The old 1.4.2.10 files are nowhere to be found. A simple rename of sun-jdk-<ver> in files and the ebuild itself (done in portage overlay) is all that's needed to get 1.4.2.11 up and running.

No this link is now to 1.4.2.11 JDK so please update the ebuild. I think a new maintainer for this package is needed. (In reply to comment #5) > (In reply to comment #4) > > The old 1.4.2.10 files are nowhere to be found. > > emerge tells you exact link for download, and it works here >

I mean the link the EBUILD tells you, not the link in this bug report... In my case (x86) it's: * Please download j2sdk-1_4_2_10-linux-i586.bin from: * http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=22&PartDetailId=j2sdk-1.4.2_10-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg * (SDK 32-bit/64-bit for Windows/Linux/Solaris SPARC 32-bit for Solaris x86, then select download Linux Self-extracting. * and move it to /usr/portage/distfiles If I follow that link, I can download the required file 1.4.2.10 and it works. I f it really downloads 1.4.2.11 for you, which arch is that? Gentoo java team is understaffed so good luck finding different maintainer...
Well, currently J2SE v 1.4.2_12 is out, at least on the official Sun web page: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html Albeit still with old, click-wrapped license :(
