Description Thomas van Kampen 2006-04-04 01:59:47 UTC
Hi,

This is probably some generic issue with portage or one of the ebuilds mentioned here but I do not have the knowlegde to work this out any more so I'm really sorry if this is an invalid bugreport. I hope people here can work this out further.

Both kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.2 and kde-base/arts-3.5.2 (and perhaps even more packages) create the file /etc/env.d/45kdepaths-3.5 . If you unmerge either one of them, but leave the other alone, the file is removed. For example you first install both but then remove only aRts, the file is gone.

I guess this would be a problem in the way how portage handles files, or how the specific ebuilds handle them.

Reproduce:
1. emerge -av kde-base/kdelibs
2. See how /etc/env.d/45kdepaths-3.5 is created
3. emerge -av kde-base/arts
4. /etc/env.d/45kdepaths-3.5 is still there
5. emerge -aC kde-base/arts
5. /etc/env.d/45kdepaths-3.5 is gone, while it should have been there for kdelibs

I hope I make sense. :-)
