Me too, on ~x86

I have the same problem. I think this is simply due to a space missing between '-DHAS_TMPL_RETENTION' and 'resources/content/p3p.xsl.in'.
However I didn't had the time to test the fix. I'll try later today (I don't have access to my Gentoo box right now).

/usr/bin/perl -I../../config ../../config/preprocessor.pl
-DNAMESPACE=http://www.w3.org/2000/10/18/P3Pv1 \
        -DHAS_TMPL_RETENTION\

If that's any help, adding the spaces made it build for me. Don't know much about releasing a patch and stuff. I added them manually.

Comment 10 Paul Taylor 2006-04-19 23:45:41 UTC
I'm seeing the same problem, plus I getting a lot of syntax errors earlier in the build e.g.:

gmake[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gecko-sdk-1.7.12-r2/work/mozilla/security/coreconf'
syntax error at -e line 3, near "while"
syntax error at -e line 7, near "}"
Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.
rm -rf Linux2.6_x86_64_glibc_PTH_64_OPT.OBJ LOGS TAGS Linux2.6_x86_64_glibc_PTH_64_OPT.OBJ/.md core so_locations _gen _jmc _jri _jni _stubs
cd nsinstall; /usr/bin/gmake -j1 clean
gmake[4]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/gecko-sdk-1.7.12-r2/work/mozilla/security/coreconf/nsinstall'
syntax error at -e line 3, near "while"

Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.

These don't cause the build to fail, but they don't look healthy.

This patch fixed the error during compilation that I was having.
Comment 14 Alexander Skwar 2006-04-22 22:34:15 UTC
Isn't bug #130610 a dupe of this bug?
Comment 15 William Keaney 2006-04-22 22:47:55 UTC
I had the same error as James (#11), only with mozilla-1.7.12-r2. Kai's attachment fixed it for me. Thanks, Kai!
Comment 16 Ernestas Liubarskij 2006-04-23 01:27:49 UTC
This patch fixed it to me too. Thanks.

I'm sorry if this is obvious but how to I apply this patch and if you know if it will work on ~x86 system.
Comment 18 Ernestas Liubarskij 2006-04-23 13:41:13 UTC
Created attachment 85304 [details, diff]
diff to the gecko-sdk-1.7.12-r2.ebuild

Well, you can patch your gecko-sdk-1.7.12-r2.ebuild with this diff and put the provided above patch into files/ dir. Then type 'ebuild /path/to/gecko-sdk.ebuild digest' and emerge gecko-sdk as usual.
Comment 19 Jory A. Pratt 2006-04-23 14:11:49 UTC
Hold off another hour or so and I will be committing 1.7.13 to the tree.
Comment 20 Robert Spencer 2006-04-23 15:19:41 UTC
Thanks for your help. I can confirm that this patch does work with ~x86 running gcc version 4.1.

Jory I already patched but will try new build when its up. Thanks again.
Comment 21 Jory A. Pratt 2006-04-23 19:23:46 UTC
Fixed in 1.7.13

Comment 23 Martin Mokrejš 2006-04-24 02:47:52 UTC
Sorry, I do NOT see it (the missing spaces in Makefile.in) fixed in

eb0683207f7668319c65e403d04bfc41 mozilla-1.7.13-source.tar.bz2
from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7.13/source/mozilla-1.7.13-source.tar.bz2

But, it is fixed in cvs HEAD:

http://lxr.mozilla.org/seamonkey/source/extensions/p3p/Makefile.in

Please re-open the issue and communicate it with upstream.
Comment 24 Jory A. Pratt 2006-04-24 04:17:47 UTC
The issue is fixed in the patchset, I nor do any other mozilla herd devs provide a vanilla build of mozilla products.
