I consider this a bug but forgive me if you don't. I d/l'd the live CD yesterday and to my suprise the kernel couldn't recognize my generic SCSI setup (symbios 8251S + IBM DCAS-34330 HD). cfdisk just gave me an error message about the partition table. I pulled the SCSI setup out and put in an IDE drive and had no trouble at all. This is cutting edge software ? It's the kind of senseless crap that we've come to expect from Linux. You guys should try to be different. Do it right, if you can see your way clear.
Please do not use bugzilla as a forum for insults. Regarding your problem, what version of the livecd did you try? If 1.4_rc1ish, try the "2002122100" livecd from http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/experimental/livecd/ and post your results (good/bad) here.
