I have emerged xchat-gnome-0.9-r1 and enabled libsexy (which does the spell chacking afaik), and though this worked in previous versions - it now doesn't. I don't even get the spelling suggestions submenu of the context menu. # emerge --info Portage 2.1_pre4-r1 (default-linux/ppc/ppc32/2006.0/G4, gcc-4.0.2, glibc-2.3.6-r3, 2.6.16-rc4 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-rc4 ppc 7447A, altivec supported Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage /usr/local/gentopia /usr/local/gnome-overlay /usr/local/xgl-overlay" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="ppc X a52 aac acl alsa altivec apache2 avahi beagle berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth cairo caps cdr crypt cups dbus dri dvd dvdr eds emboss encode evo exif fbcon firefox flac foomaticdb fortran galago gdbm gif glitz gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal ieee1394 imlib ipv6 jpeg ldap libg++ libwww logrotate mad matroska mikmod mng mono mp3 mpeg nautilus ncurses nfs nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg opengl pam pdf pdflib perl pic pie png pnp posix ppds python quicktime readline samba scanner sdl spell ssl svg symlink tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb vorbis xml xv zlib elibc_glibc input_devices_evdev kernel_linux userland_GNU video_cards_ati" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, LINGUAS
This seems to be a bug in the libsexy ebuild, they're using the wrong function. I'll have a talk with the maintainer of libsexy.
libsexy-0.1.8 should have spell checks enabled, when app-text/enchant is installed. please try and if it doesn't work, please reopen.
I have already installed libsexy-0.1.8 and xchat-gnome-0.10 and still spell checking does not work.
Should be working again with 0.11
In fact, now xchat-gnome just crashes. gdb shows it's aspell's fault. I would say it's related to bug #129542
with 0.11 spell checking does show me mistakes etc, but when i right click a mistake xchat crashes.
Works for me. Which version of libsexy and gtkspell do you have installed?
libsexy-0.1.8 and gtkspell-2.0.11-r1 I also have other issues. xchat-gnome doesn't have an icon anymore - not in the gnome menu and not in the task-bar. Also the notification area icon stopped working - it used to show when there was a new message or ping in one of the open channels.
Closing because I cannot reproduce this bug and it seems to have fixed itself throughout version bumps.
