Description Luca Longinotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-23 12:04:16 UTC
Well, with a lot of delay (which I apologize for), here is the requested bug with all the infos to start keywording the new-style PHP on MIPS.

The follwing packages need ~mips keyword:

dev-lang/php-4.4.1-r3 ~mips
app-admin/php-toolkit-1.0-r2 ~mips
dev-db/cdb-0.75-r1 ~mips
dev-db/libiodbc-3.51.2 ~mips
dev-php4/pecl-sqlite-1.0.3 ~mips
dev-php4/pecl-yaz-1.0.4 ~mips
dev-php4/pecl-zip-1.0 ~mips
dev-libs/zziplib-0.13.45 ~mips

This way the latest PHP4 is keyworded correctly, if you too want to keyword PHP5 (not required), then it would be best to keyword the latest 5.1.1 release ~mips and the needed deps, but I'm not sure you want this as it's not needed and PHP 5.X has a 2-4 times greater compile time than PHP4. Keywording PHP5 could be done at a later date, but if you want to do it now just say so and I'll post all the needed infos, packages to keyword etc., thanks.

Use flags that still need to be use.mask'ed on the MIPS profiles are:

java-internal
java-external
hyperwave-api
interbase
mnogosearch
msql
mcve
ovrimos
sapdb

A good USE flag test case for PHP4 is the following USE setting when emerging dev-lang/php:

USE="-* apache2 bcmath berkdb bzip2 calendar cdb cgi cjk cli crypt ctype curl dbx exif expat firebird flatfile force-cgi-redirect ftp gd gdbm gmp iconv imap inifile iodbc ipv6 kerberos ldap mcal memlimit mhash ming mssql mysql ncurses nls odbc overload pcntl pcre posix postgres readline session sharedmem snmp sockets spell sqlite ssl sysvipc tiff tokenizer truetype wddx xml xmlrpc xsl yaz zip zlib"

A very good webapp to test the resulting PHP binary/Apache module is phpMyAdmin:

dev-db/phpmyadmin-2.7.0_p2

Which, once dev-lang/php is keyworded, could benefit from a readded ~mips keyword. ;)

So, I hope this all works out well, if you have any request, want info etc., just say so!
Best regards and thanks, CHTEKK.

Hi, any update on this?
Bug #120088 is now solved on our part, pending addition of a couple of flags to the profiles, so I'd like for the MIPS team to please keyword the new PHP packages, with the time passing, the package to keyword now is dev-lang/php-4.4.2.
Please keyword this soon, as we'd really like to remove the old PHP package from the tree, which I hope will happen soon, and we'd prefer still having PHP for MIPS after that... ;)
Best regards, CHTEKK.

And still no response... We can't wait anymore on this...

Old php packages will be masked on Wednesday, 19 April 2006, you have three days to do something, after that we'll deal with the MIPS keyworded packages accordingly.
Best regards, CHTEKK.
Comment 3 Luca Longinotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-22 06:53:50 UTC
Old-style PHP was now masked wrt various issues (security, ...).
The "php" USE flag was masked on all MIPS profiles, and atm MIPS doesn't have any keyworded PHP support, as was agreed...
If you ever want to keyword it, use this bug as tracker for your efforts, or close it down if you don't intend to keyword dev-lang/php.
Thanks for the cooperation, best regards, CHTEKK.

Is there any progress on this? Will mips never get php?
Comment 5 Alexander Færøy 2007-01-20 18:55:50 UTC
We're too small to support the rapid development of PHP.

Closing as WONTFIX for now.
