The new version of ESP ghostscript, 8.15, breaks pdftops, which is provided by poppler. Recent versions of AFPL and GPL ghostscript do not break pdftops. Here are the contents of a ps file generated with pdftops using ghostscript-esp-8.15 Error: /configurationerror in --setpagedevice-- Additional information: [/Duplex true] Operand stack: --nostringval-- --dict:4/6(L)-- Execution stack: %interp_exit .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringva l-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- false 1 %stopped_push 2 3 %oparray_pop 2 3 %oparray_pop 2 3 %oparray_pop 2 3 %oparray_pop .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- 2 4 %oparray_pop --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --dic t:1/2(L)-- --nostringval-- 2 %dict_continue Dictionary stack: --dict:1173/1686(ro)(G)-- --dict:0/20(G)-- --dict:84/200(L)-- --dict:63/75(L)-- Current allocation mode is local Current file position is 206602
I cannot reproduce this. What version of poppler are you using?
oops, you mean you are trying to use pdf2ps ;) well, I cannot reproduce that here either. Is it maybe pdf-specific?
(In reply to comment #2) > oops, you mean you are trying to use pdf2ps ;) No, I mean pdftops, which is provided by poppler-0.5.0-r4. > well, I cannot reproduce that here either. > Is it maybe pdf-specific? That could be true. I have reproduced the problem on x86 and amd64. Consistently, pdftops does not work with this version of ghostscript, but all other versions that I have tried are fine. May I attach a pdf file to this bug report?
does pdf2ps work? You can attach a pdf here, if you like.
(In reply to comment #4) > does pdf2ps work? Yes, it does. I can't use it in general, because it converts everything to low-level postscript. > You can attach a pdf here, if you like.
Created attachment 79051 [details] a pdf file that causes pdftops to fail I have tried to convert a few different pdf files, of different origins, and all have failed using pdftops. I'm attaching one small example.
I really cannot reproduce this here. Can you please post your emerge info? Also try to remerge ghostscript-esp, poppler and poppler-bindings, please
(In reply to comment #7) > I really cannot reproduce this here. Can you please post your emerge info? Could you be more specific, I'm not sure what you are referring to. > Also try to remerge ghostscript-esp, poppler and poppler-bindings, please I tried, no improvement.
try running "emerge info > file" in a terminal and attach file here.
Created attachment 79217 [details] output of "emerge info" I was unfamiliar with that command. Thanks.
"/configurationerror in --setpagedevice--" did you configure anything? I really wonder .. I have no idea for this bug. is there a configuration file for gs?
(In reply to comment #11) > "/configurationerror in --setpagedevice--" > > did you configure anything? > I really wonder .. I have no idea for this bug. I am sorry to cause trouble. > is there a configuration file for gs? I have no idea. I scanned the output of "slocate ghostscript" and didnt see anything. I havent changed any configuration myself.
It is clearly not of any help to have this around here and no one has an idea. I suggest we move this to upstream, please file a bug in the ghostscript-esp bugzilla: http://www.cups.org/espgs/str.php?L+P0+S-2+C0+I0+E0+Q and post the link here
