I am installing Gentoo Linux on a new AMD-based system and right after I set up the partitions, file systems and mounted them I ren emerge --sync. I recieve:

Calculation Dependencies !!! Cannot resolve a virtual package name to an ebuild.

This happens around 80% when it is updating the portage tree...
