building lirc against the gentoo-sources package which has linux-2.6.14-gentoo-r5 currently fails.

depmod -a shows these unresolved symbols...

lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_add
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_destroy
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_remove
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_create
