I just upgrade gnome-applets to 2.12.2 and now I always get this annoying message on gnome startup: ----------------- Error activating XKB configuration. It can happen under various circumstances: - a bug in libxklavier library - a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities) - X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation X server version data: Gentoo (The X.Org Foundation 6.8.2, revision r6-0.1.13) 60802000 If you report this situation as a bug, please include: - The result of xprop -root | grep XKB _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "xorg", "thinkpad", "de", "", "" _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "xorg", "thinkpad", "de", "", "" - The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd layouts = [de,us intl,es nodeadkeys] model = thinkpad overrideSettings = false options = [grp grp:alts_toggle] --------------- the most annoying thing about this is the fact that I can't switch between layouts anymore. seems to me to be the same as bug 86232 (though I filed a seperate bug against gnome-applets)
I can't tell you why but the error message disappeared and switching between the different layouts works again. I didn't change a thing though - strange.
the error is back. I don't know why. but I get the error messages on every startup
please try the unstable version of libxklavier, I think you might have the same bug as 114601. ( and logout / login )
problem has gone away with x11-libs/libxklavier-2.0-r1
