Description Akos Keresztes 2005-11-15 13:41:49 UTC
When booting just after kernel messages I get many error messages like this:
"udevd[2478]: init_udevd_socket: bind failed, Address already in use"
(I cannot copy all of them here, because I cannot catch them)

Everything works fine, but these messages are very disturbing.

A very good description and a possible solution can be found here:

# cat /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug

It happens only on my IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop, my desktop machine is ok.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -uvD
2. reboot
3. watch the console

Actual Results:
Getting error messages

Expected Results:

Wow, took people long enough to report this :)

Anyway, yes, I know it's a problem, and how to fix it (get rid of hotplug), and
am working on it. You can safely ignore the messages for now.
