Description Sven Vermeulen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-09 12:02:16 UTC
Hi CVS admins

Based on the list Lars gave me a while back (on who is member of cvsdoc/cvstrans
group), the members who have passed (or are busy with) the GDP Quiz and the
input I've received from the others regarding leaving and such, the following
setting should be the new access list for cvsdoc/cvstrans:

[ I've left in those I believe are infra-wise accesses for your convenience ]

cvsdoc:vapier,robbat2,klieber,swift,neysx,cam,enderson,jforman,ccpz,flammie,so,y
oswink,alin,vanquirius,fox2mike,smithj,grahl,jkt,rane,m.mascherpa
cvstrans:swift,neysx,alin,ccpz,enderson,flammie,yoswink,cam,grahl,so,vanquirius,
jkt,pylon,rane,m.mascherpa,achumakov

This is quite some cleaning with respect to the current situation because of the
following reasons:

* Have left Gentoo:
aaby, bass, broeman, cay, dertobi123, erwin, martoni, pascalfr, st3vie
* Never were GDP members to my knowledge:
    anpereir, dj-submerge, plate, trombik, ventura
* Have indicated not to need access:
    lu_zero
* Haven't submitted quiz:
chiguire (did promise though), humpback, idani, josejx, nakano, plasmaroo,
    svyatogor

I also suggest that the accounts who can be removed are removed, but that's your
domain, not mine :)

Oh, apparently lcars changed the username for m.mascherpa to just "mascherpa".
Comment 2 Lars Weiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-09 15:14:40 UTC
I'm fine with the changes to cvsdoc, but we use the cvstrans-group also for
GWN-translators.

So, we need to add to cvstrans at least anpereir (GWN-es), plate (GWN-global,
but commits sometimes for other languages), trombik (GWN-jp), ventura (GWN-br),
st3vie (GWN-nl)

dj-submerge left the GWN-de-team, dertobi123 is still involved in Gentoo, but
not in GDP (you said he left completely), as well as st3vie and bass.

So, if you are fine (or not) with the five additions to cvstrans, please let me
know.

I did already the other changes and left the five cvstrans-folks still in.

josejx has done his quiz, please put him back into cvsdoc.

Accounts that really need to be removed:
cay (has been recruited as achumakov)
 erwin (Indonesian translator, MIA)
 martoni (unrecruited Swedish translator, MIA)
pascalfr (French follow-up, replaced by cam a long time ago)

Feel free to list GWN translators in a cvsnews(?) or gwn(?) group, or use a
gwntrans, or even even a gwn-{$LANG} group per language, but IMO, they shouldn't
be in cvstrans.
Thanks.

If possible I'd appreciate it if the cvstrans was really for documentation
translations and gwntrans or something similar for GWN. Although both teams work
on translations, they're really separate.

Also, please re-add chiguire to the cvsdoc/cvstrans list as well.

Let's do it the complex way, create more groups, separate translators from each
other, ...

But not this night. I'll have a look into it during the weekend.

Ramereth: As the GDP-team needs to change their group-memberships every second
month, is it possible that we put SwifT or neysx into the useradmin-group on
lark, so that they can do the changes themselves with gpasswd?

Your choice.
GWN and GDP are different entities, and should receive different perms. There's
nothing new here apart from the fact that we now know that some guys have been
granted access to places they shouldn't be allowed to commit.

Really?
People come and go, that's just normal.
If you're thinking of bug #104900, I suppose that having cvsdoc own everything
under /doc and list all GDP members in it (thus freeing cvstrans for anything
you like) was way too simple for us.

Lets keep the folks who deal with users deal with them (i.e. devrel). I'd rather
not open up more folks to have the ability to add folks to different groups
unless we can restrict them to only those groups they need to edit. If we can do
that, then I don't see a problem. I just want to have separate of what folks in
useradmin can do and what these folks can do.

Please put idani back in cvstrans. Thanks.
Comment 10 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-28 01:36:39 UTC
he's back in cvstrans. Please I'd like to remind everyone that cvs groups are
not in LDAP, so this is still being done the old fashioned way (at least until
I say so ;) ).

cheers

Seems to be fixed.
