There is a working patch which allows to compile xalan-2.6.0-r2 using Sun JDK 1.5.0. I know that Axxo is working very hard to get all the Java related stuff done right (and I appreciate his work very much!). But in the meantime why stop people getting it to work, if the solution is ready? Mikko Tiihonen in 2004 has created a patch 'xalan-jdk15.patch' (see Bug #67244, comment number 7). This could be filtered in the ebuild, and it could be applied only if a user uses >=jdk-1.5.0. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unmask >=sun-jdk-1.5.0 2. emerge sun-jdk 3. emerge xalan Actual Results: Xalan doesn't compile. 4. Create an overlay 5. Modify xalan-2.6.0-r2.ebuild and create digest 6. emerge xalan All is well. Expected Results: I think that xalan-2.6.0-r3.ebuild should be created, with the 'xalan-jdk15.patch' and behaviour described above. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is so easy, why not let other people avoid this error?
Please, don't file duplicate bugs; >=jdk-1.5.0 is package.masked. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 67244 ***
