gensync can currently only sync rsync://-overlays.
Repositories that are keept in subversion or cvs must be synced by hand.

How about something like a script that gets executed at the end of a --sync say 
/etc/portage/bin/post_sync where you define your custom commands to run

I think that gensync should be the SPOT for syncing 3th party overlays.
