Description Michael Hill 2005-09-23 09:16:55 UTC
startx dies immediately with the following lines:

Duplicate symbol __i686.get_pc_thunk.bx in /usr/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a:bi
tmapmod.o
Also defined in /usr/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a

Fatal server error:
Module load failure

It's keeping me from being able to upgrade from 6.8.2-r2; if I didn't still have
the binary package I'd be totally hosed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. startx
2.
3.

Actual Results:
startx aborts with an error

Expected Results:
startx should blank the screen and go into graphical mode

Remember to search for duplicate bugs before filing a new one.

If you aren't using ati-drivers, I suggest USE=dlloader. Also make sure that if
you have USE=hardened, you're on a hardened profile with a hardened toolchain.
