Description Mark D. 2005-09-01 18:15:11 UTC
gnome-vfs does not compile on my new amd64 fresh install.
I've rebooted and even done an emerge system -u --emptytree

Tried other 2.10 ebuilds:
[ ] 2.10.0-r2 (2)
[ ] 2.10.1-r1 (2)
[ ~ ] 2.10.1-r2 (2)
All with the same results.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gnome-vfs
Actual Results:

You did not include the actual error. It is higher up in the output. Gnome-vfs
doesn't build here either, also on an amd64 system.

My error is (followed by the output you posted):

x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I.. -I..
-I../imported/neon -pthread -DORBIT2=1 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0

Comment 2 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-02 09:35:29 UTC
This appears to be caused by samba 3.0.20, which renamed that field close_fn for
some reason. If you downgrade to samba 3.0.14, it will build fine, as a
workaround until we can fix this.

For reference, this is gnome bug 315136
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315136)
Comment 4 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-02 14:15:19 UTC
This is fixed now in CVS. Thanks for reporting.
Comment 5 Mark D. 2005-09-02 14:59:32 UTC
Thanks E. Papegaaij, and Daniel Gryniewicz, you guy's know what your doing!
