With kernel 2.6.13 (gentoo-sources or vanilla-sources), booting is not available any more. With the same configuration, previous kernel allowed my ibook to boot. Patch and other information is accessible at following url. http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/8/29/35 And there is another thread in gentoo forum. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-375506.html According to others, the above patch does not support ppc with a nvidia graphic card. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. build kernel 2. reboot 3. Actual Results: no booting Expected Results: booting
Please revert the patch you mentioned and try this one instead: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=8085ce084c0f0144c353963853f81486fc331120;hp=319e76a1ae835c34a2838c2bfebe3db4d5a6b387 This one has been merged into Linus' tree, and (hopefully) fixes the original issue it was trying to without breaking PPC stuff. If this one works, I'll include in gentoo-sources.
Daniel Drake, Patch that you suggested works at least on my ibook. But still, I have some problem in wake up after suspending. Specifically, network modules seem to have a wake up problem. Anyway, thanks,
Fixed in genpatches-2.6.13-2 Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.13-r1
