i just successfully compiled xorg-x11-6.8.99.16. I renamed the 6.8.99.15 ebuild, and had to make a new patches tarball. I also renamed the files tarball from .15 to work with .16 The only change in xorg-x11-6.8.99.15-patches-0.1.2.tar.bz2 is patch 9500. It needs to be removed. As for xorg-x11-6.8.99.15-files-0.1.tar.bz2, it just simply needs renamed xorg-x11-6.8.99.16-files-0.1.tar.bz2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I have the working patchset for 6.8.99.16 @ http://www.linuxchics.org/xorg-x11-6.8.99.16-patches-0.1.2.tar.bz2
I appreciate the effort you've put into this, but we won't be adding any more 6.8.99.x snapshots to the tree. Instead, we're moving to 7.0 release candidates, which are modular. See http://dev.gentoo.org/~spyderous/xorg-x11/migrating_to_modular_x_howto.txt for some more information on this. If you're interested in the 6.9.99/6.9 stuff for personal use, you may wish to create an ebuild for 6.9RC0 ( http://xorg.freedesktop.org/X11R6.9-RC0/ ) too. Also I know Seemant was just making an ebuild for this, so you might want to talk to him.
