In response to ~amd64 keywording of oracle-instantclient-basic-10.1.0.3 and oracle-instantclient-sqlplus-10.1.0.3 in bug #86134 and bug #86135 Both ebuilds are currently keyworded ~x86 only. This is pointless as 10.1.0.3 isn't available for x86 any more. Please see bug #96289 Main changes: Homepage (changed to x86-64), Keywords (removed ~x86, added ~amd64), rpm2targz dep no longer needed (changed to unzip), few things because of the directory structure change between the old rpms and the zips which are used now, removed the installation of docs (from instantclient-basic) which don't seem to be there any more. Marking bug TESTED because I've obviously tested the ebuilds good enough for ~amd64 Jim emerge --info follows Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.11 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.blueyonder.co.uk" LINGUAS="en_GB" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aac alsa amarok amd64 avi berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin cdb cdr crypt cups curl directfb dvd dvdr dvdread eds encode esd fam foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal imagemagick imlib ipv6 java jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal lzw lzw-tiff mad mikmod mp3 mpeg mplayer msn ncurses nls nocd nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl pic png python qt quicktime readline real samba sdl spell ssl symlink tcltk tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales v4l vcd vorbis xine xml2 xpm xv zlib linguas_en_GB userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS

I do not have access to the x86-64, So I'm not able to help here.

Bug 107023 is a duplicate, but I think it's a better approach. It keeps x86 and amd64 support in the same ebuild (which ought to be keyworded ~amd64 only right now since the x86 version is gone), so that, when Oracle updates the amd64 build to match x86, one ebuild will be able to work on both.
You make a good point. Although why you can write ebuilds yet not search bugzilla is beyond me Either way, your ebuilds certainly seem more future-proof. I wrote the additions with a view to them being a quick fix for the chap that wanted the x86-64 versions of oracle. Proceed as you wish. I won't be offended ;) Jim
(In reply to comment #7) > You make a good point. Although why you can write ebuilds yet not search > bugzilla is beyond me I searched, but apparently incompetently. (I might've done something dumb like accidently unselecting TESTING in addition to CLOSED.) Comes with sleep deprivation ;) Sorry. Enjoy the ebuilds.
There ebuilds are in portage, not maintainer-wanted. If you don't want to maintain these any more, assign to maintainer-needed and remove yourself from metadata.xml, please.
Whats the progress here? Metadata still lists radek as the maintainer ... so are you maintaining this packages or is a maintainer needed? I bumped the oracle-instantclient-{basic,sqlplus} packages to 10.2.0.1 for my personal usage and would like to commit this bumps to the tree.
go ahead with that.

Ok ... so the plan is as follows: First bumping to 10.2.0.1, then I'm going to make the ebuilds AMD64 ready.
I added oracle-instantclient-{basic,sqlplus,jdbc}-10.2.0.1-r1 ebuilds to the tree which introduce amd64 support. I managed to start sqlplus but have no amd64 testbox from which i can connect to a database. So everyone is invited to test this :)
