When I compiled jpeg lib (to compile gnome), it failed : when the link begun, impossible to find crtbeginS.o in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5/
to compile I must symbolic link /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5 to /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130

1.emerge jpeg

I can compile if i create a symlink

Please do not set symlinks. Use fix_libtool_files.sh
