I have noticed a lot of bugs floating around that mention how outdated the cd install guide is. Now that we have a decent doc team, I see no need for the CD install guide. With the constantly upgraded and comprehensive web install guide, why is the CD install guide needed? It is not easily found (to update it), and it would require a *massive* amount of work to update it, since it still refrences the 1.2 build process. Since we are on our way to getting printable documentation, is the on-CD install guide still necessary? //ZhEN
the thing is, what if you don't have a printer or a net connection at the time of install. I rather think that the cd install guide is a good thing. Is there an easy way to generate html->txt (lynx -dump might work) and throw it on the cd?
lynx -dump works perfectly. The text file needs no formatting at all, pretty slick. Where is the install doc located? I can incorporate this into the web ebuild so that it is automatically upadted each time the web is built. //ZhEN
The text files are now kept in doc/txt on the website. //ZhEN
