Tried to compile gnome-panel-2.32.1 and it failed with:

Couldn't find include 'GConf-2.0.gir'

The compile succeeded after I upgraded gnome-base/gconf to version 2.32.0-r1.

I guess it fails with gnome-base/gconf-2.28.1 ?

It had, but after some more testing it seems I just needed to rebuild gconf after updating gobject-introspection, like bug #350093.  I will try to confirm this.
