Description Antti Mäkelä 2006-10-12 01:10:33 UTC
When upgrading from KDE 3.5.4 to KDE 3.5.5 the USE flags have changed:

[ebuild U ] kde-base/kopete-3.5.5 [3.5.4] USE="arts crypt%* kdeenablefinal kdehiddenvisibility ssl xinerama xmms xscreensaver%* -addbookmarks% -alias% -autoreplace% -connectionstatus% -contactnotes% -debug -gadu% -groupwise% -highlight% -history% -irc% -jingle% -latex% -netmeeting% -nowlistening% -sametime -slp% -sms% -statistics% -texteffect% -translator% -webpresence% -winpopup% -yahoo%" 9,019 kB

There are dozen new USE flags, and it seems that they have been designed with "no functionality by default" mindset. Please change the defaults in profiles to provide full functionality by default. If I hadn't noticed this, I'd lose my IM after upgrade -- and I also have no idea on what some of these use flags mean. "Yahoo" and "MSN" are self-explanatory, but what are "autoreplace" "connectionstatus", "statistics" and so on?

Until per-package default useflags can be selected, there's no way to make them enabled by default. Besides, most of them are usually disabled by users. The name are the same that are used by Kopete itself to describe the plugins.

IIt is ridiculous ...

I think you have lost the meaning of use flags...

It is like you make an ebuild of firefox with a use flag "-nonetwork"...

Anyway... I know I can't convince you so do as you like...
