These textures are gorgeous - very high quality. Should be in Portage. Created attachment 94760 [details] quake1-textures-20060722.ebuild Added "Debaser" textures, and support for Tenebrae & Fuhquake (haven't tested Fuhquake because it moans about libjpeg.so, but according to http://wiki.quakesrc.org/index.php/Textures it should work). Adds almost 500 textures.
Are you creating the symlinks without the directories existing on purpose or was that an oversight? It's deliberate, for convenience. I suppose the USE flags "demo", "tenebrae" and "fuhquake" could be added to the ebuild. No, what I mean is you're creating symlinks to directories that may or may not exist. Should we simply create the directories before making the symlinks? I think that we should, so they at least have a resolvable target, even if the directories end up empty/unused since those engines aren't in play. Created attachment 116448 [details]

Added USE flags and keepdir commands, to fix the problem with dosym. This keeps the directories neat.
Having USE flags for specific quake1 engines is a good thing, because it's the only way to know which desktop entries to set up when installing a Quake 1 pack, as used in my Quake 1 eclass.

games-mod.eclass
Quake 1 eclass.
So what was the point in that eclass, exactly? Created attachment 132401 [details] quake1-textures-20060722.ebuild Added Rygel's excellent textures, for a grittier look: http://www.quakeone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2778&page=4 Created attachment 132507 [details]

A few more improved textures.
Paul, can you add an option to use one of ultra/high/tiny/small rygel's packs? I've stumbled on this bug because I was looking for duplicates for https://bugs.gentoo.org/931202 Of one important note, I think it is that http://facelift.quakedev.com has been long gone and sometime in 2010 it was replaced with https://qrp.quakeone.com, which is also unfortunately poorly maintained at the time of writing this. Such a shame, it has a lot of cool stuff. OK it says here https://qrp.quakeone.com/faq/index.php?faq=277 that the project was originally hosted on https://qrp.quakeone.com, moved there in 2005, and then back to its original home in 2011. |
