Exactly the same as bug #949240, but with a different kernel version.
That patch from https://bugs.gentoo.org/949240 worked here as well. I upgraded to sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel-6.12.21 on three x64_64 systems, and only one suffered failure due to this thing.
Mike, could we pull in the patch for 6.12.x too?
