Looks like without any notice , we have dropped net-dns/bind-tools, its not basically an empty shim for net-dns/bind. https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/commit/754524d4345dd41ff9e31cba85afb4f104a9815a For us few tin foil hats that do not wish to have a full DNS server on systems, but would like to have dig,nslookup,etc. A nice fig leaf would be to add a server flag to net-dns/bind to remove the server side functionality. Seems there is little appetite to maintain this, but it would be a very nice functionality to have Please consider this as an alternative for bind-tools.. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -v bind-tools Actual Results: installs bind server tools Expected Results: install bind client tools
