This package does not support Python 3.12. Please test it with Python 3.12 as a matter of urgency as the default will change in early June, as per message on gentoo-dev: https://www.mail-archive.com/gentoo-dev@lists.gentoo.org/msg99104.html. Please check the information provided in the tracker. Ask in #gentoo-python on IRC if need any help.
Firefox-rapid (124+) supports python-3.12 already. ESR (115) does not, and most likely will not. Next ESR (128) will be out around june-july and that has native 3.12 support. Thunderbird is based on Firefox ESR.
I've just built Thunderbird 115.10.1 with PYTHON_COMPAT_OVERRIDE=python3_12, and it's running without a hiccup; is there anything that I should check/do to better stress compatibility? These are my USE flags for Thunderbird: USE="X dbus hwaccel lto openh264 pulseaudio wayland -clang -debug -eme-free -hardened -jack -libproxy (-pgo) (-selinux) -sndio -system-av1 -system-harfbuzz (-system-icu) -system-jpeg -system-libevent -system-librnp -system-libvpx -system-png (-system-python-libs) -system-webp -wifi"
Hmm, thunderbird could work since it doesn't have pgo available. I'll confirm it, thanks for testing!
