There is a major issue with version 6.4_p20230527 (latest) and they are working on fixing it (https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/sys-libs/ncurses). The most up to date version ncurses-6.4_p20230923 is available from 'pg_overlay' if you are interested.
The issue is with openrc, yeah.
