many ppc users are running older machines and using binpkgs would be useful for them. however, there is no way to easily select a mirror that has the ppc binpkgs. it would be a lot easier for everyone if mirrorselect had the list of mirrors with binpkgs for ppc. I'm willing to take this on when I have time.
This was discussed on Discord. User has suggested adding binhost mirror selection for users as an option in mirrorselect. Seems like a reasonable feature to request as it means users get to set faster mirrors easier and takes load off the default set mirror by releng. User has offered to help add support themselves into mirrorselect if it is agreed this would be useful.
(Note that per bug 922656, the issue with finding ppc binpkgs is just that they don't exist apart from for stage3 right now, not that they're only on some mirrors). Anyway, sure, why not, wrt mirrorselect for binrepos.conf.
