I know it the package is broken. The VERSION override seems to be broken. I gonna fix that frist and create a PR upstream and a patch and then fix the ebuild.
After talking with the creator of the project, until I find a way to override the version without any weird bugs (for example the update prompt report version 0.0.0). It better to only provide live ebuild.
