Note: I believe this is a "-march=i686" issue, -march=native will most likely work. I've seen few of these issues solved somehow, let me know if I need to dig up some examples how they've been fixed.
Debian enables SSE2 only for amd64 and x32 arches. Maybe we should do the same. https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/zita-resampler/-/blob/master/debian/rules?ref_type=heads#L10
Sounds good!
I'm not sure how better to do this. Make USE=cpu_flags_x86_sse2 noop on abi_x86_32 or mask it via profiles/arch/x86/package.use.mask?
But wait. You are building this package with -march=i686 and USE=cpu_flags_x86_sse2. Is it legal? :)
(In reply to Alexander Tsoy from comment #6) > But wait. You are building this package with -march=i686 and > USE=cpu_flags_x86_sse2. Is it legal? :) That's a good question! I don't see why not, but if it's not ever supposed to work like that, I should definitely disable it. (then again these usually do work with -native hmmm!)
OK, after some sleep I think I figured this out. :) The problem is that code paths that uses compiler intrinsics aren't guarded by something like #if defined(__SSE2__). So we need to either patch the code or use tc-cpp-is-true "defined(__SSE2__)" in the ebuild before enabling SSE2.
