This should go away with the prefix-portage port to meson which is done already I think. This build is from the 13th so may not have picked up all the recent changes. Can you try the latest script please? ``` /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 -o root -g root -t /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/etc ./dispatch-conf.conf ./etc-update.conf ( cd /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/etc && cp -pR /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/usr/share/portage/config/make.globals ) cp: missing destination file operand after '/mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/usr/share/portage/config/make.globals' Try 'cp --help' for more information. make[1]: *** [Makefile:28: install] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory '/mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/var/tmp/portage-3.0.49/prefix-portage-3.0.49/cnf' make: *** [Makefile:387: install-recursive] Error 1 ```
stage1 doesn't use meson, but autotools IIRC

Perhaps this fixes the stage1 portage install problem reported on WSL. install of prefix-portage 3.0.56.1 fails with: ``` /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 -o root -g root -t /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/etc ./dispatch-conf.conf ./etc-update.conf ( cd /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/etc && rm -f make.globals && cp -pR /mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/usr/share/portage/config/make.globals ) cp: missing destination file operand after '/mnt/d/a/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix-tester/gentoo-prefix/tmp/usr/share/portage/config/make.globals' ``` The corresponding line in `cnf/Makefile` seems to be: ``` ( cd $(DESTDIR)$(sysconfdir) && $(LN_S) $(DESTDIR)$(PORTAGE_CONF)/make.globals ) ``` I'm not sure what's happening here, `LN_S` is `ln -s` so how is that becoming `cp -pR`? So... oh, I see. ``` checking whether ln -s works... no, using cp -pR ``` I'm not prefix staff but maybe it's time to just use the Meson build path? @Alexander: Your environment is missing a working `ln -s`; please fix. Also you've managed to somehow start uploading OSX/Darwin logs to a Windows ticket; is there some confused automation given the consistent, monthly timing?
Hmmm, nice catch. We could have a look at meson, if it would be possible to pull it in. However, a target/filesystem that doesn't support symlinks, I doubt that's going to be working well for other things too...

Aren't the logs in the last few comments for different problems? One is a macOS/GCC thing with new SDK I think, another is the symlink thing grobian mentioned.

(In reply to Sam James from comment #48) > Aren't the logs in the last few comments for different problems? The Darwin_Mac reports should not go to a WSL report. https://github.com/APN-Pucky/gentoo-prefix-tester/issues/29
