I confirm this issue, and patch fixes build problem for me.

I can confirm that that merge/patch solves the issue. Added it to my own overlay and now it emerges without issue. https://git.gjdwebserver.nl/gjdwebserver/gjdwebserver-overlay/src/branch/master/x11-wm/mutter/mutter-44.0-r1.ebuild You might wanna drop the current version or patch it. Since it breaks for me on 3 different devices without this patch.
