Description Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2023-02-09 03:02:33 UTC
We would like to reduce the number of net-libs/webkit-gtk slots.

Please check if it is possible to migrate from net-libs/webkit-gtk:4 to net-libs/webkit-gtk:4.1.

This should be possible (with minor build-system patching, see https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=ea0bb7cd3b47dd02d964a5c27c010eeaea8cc8b1 for example) if net-libs/libsoup:2.4 is not pulled in by the package or any of its dependencies.
Comment 1 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2023-02-09 03:18:21 UTC
Looks like this package depends on libsoup:2.4 :(

There's an upstream issue requesting it be ported to :3.0 here: https://github.com/lwindolf/liferea/issues/1142
Comment 2 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2023-06-27 23:14:59 UTC
I asked upstream and they integrated the change and released v1.15.0 with it.

nE0sIghT: can you add the new version?
Comment 4 nE0sIghT 2023-07-09 13:27:22 UTC
No, I don't add unstable versions usually. Next stable series is 1.16.
Comment 5 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2023-09-05 19:48:46 UTC
Any idea whether a stable release is going to come... this year?
Comment 6 nE0sIghT 2023-09-06 17:26:28 UTC
2 unstable versions were released currently. There were 13 with previous unstable branch.
I will add 1.15 to my overlay and test it for a couple of weeks.
If this issue is blocker and 1.15.2 will be stable enough we can try to go with it.

Thanks!

I've merged the PR and changed s/Closes/Bug/ in order to leave this bug open until there are no versions in-tree that use webkit-gtk:4.
Comment 9 Teodor Petrov 2023-12-30 11:11:01 UTC
After this upgrade, I've lost the ability to view content inside liferea's browser - clicking on an item leads to blank view, right click -> open in browser also leads to blank view.

Do I need to open separate issue about this or post the details here?
