Description Alexander Kurakin 2023-01-12 20:44:11 UTC
Good day!

media-video/celluloid is de-facto unmaintained. There are open pull requests for ages:

* https://bugs.gentoo.org/768939 ,
* https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/27487 .

Had emailed to Mart, the maintainer, but haven't gotten some reply. I'm CC'ing him.

Thanks!

What are you requesting? If you want to proxy-maintain this package, then feel free to open a new PR for the bump and add yourself as co-maintainer. I don't think the package's state justifies last rites.

Michał, thanks!

That was an attempt to give Mart a place to reply before somebody request something.

As for concrete about Celluloid, I thought it's quite determinant/simple package to just pick up it by somebody.

But thanks, I've understood the mechanism differs. Will take in account (about this and my second bug) in a day.

Someone can take it over if they can't wait, that's fine by me.

That's great Mart is back.

Thanks!

I had your e-mail marked important for follow-up, but caught covid shortly after. I wouldn't say I'm "back" to maintain celluloid well.
I don't personally use celluloid, I added it as a good gtk-based mpv GUI player to try out, but still use CLI mpv instead myself. If someone wants to maintain it, I'm quite happy to hand over its maintenance to another developer, or a proxied maintainer.
So if you want to maintain it, please do. Don't really consider me back for that. I'm very busy for the next 3 weeks with work and personal stuff, now compounded with the forced timeout from covid and already very backlogged in Gentoo.
