This is a heads-up concerning an issue in Apptainer version 1.1.3 (and 1.1.4 which is also out now but unfortunately has the same issue) that affects Gentoo and Gentoo Prefix' app-container/apptainer. As this is an Apptainer issue, I have created an issue for this upstream here: https://github.com/apptainer/apptainer/issues/951 Later this week the fix by bartoldeman in the Github issue will be tried out (and hopefully that works). Until there is a working fix, things related to such (i.e., some --fakeroot related things) will not work with Apptainer 1.1.3 or 1.1.4.
