I was taking a look on the packages masked by pending libsoup porting and I saw that net-misc/gnome-online-miners was dropped some time ago in other distributions like Debian or Fedora. Regarding gnome-photos (the only reverse dep), it seems they simply dropped the dep... I guess that could break support for some remote photo libraries (I am not sure as I only used it for local images)
Indeed... they simply dropped that support: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gnome-photos/blob/rawhide/f/changelog#_23
With this also net-libs/libzapojit would go Regarding gnome-photos it seems that, one this dep was dropped, it was "ok" switching to newer net-libs/gnome-online-accounts and sci-geosciences/geocode-glib:2 For gnome-music it seems they force the use of old libsoup :/
Well, for gnome-music we would need https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-music/-/merge_requests/989 ... I see Matt already catched it ;)
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:GNOME/libsoup:3_transition in case you haven't seen it.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-photos/-/merge_requests/185 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-photos/-/issues/83 are relevant for gnome-photos, but it doesn't seem like they'll be fixed any time soon.
