When trying to emerge dev-libs/libgpg-error-1.46-r1 you get a verify failed error. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =dev-libs/libgpg-error-1.46-r1 Actual Results: the ebuild failes with file size mismatch Expected Results: proper recording of file size for new release in manifest (size of bz2 files not gz) I checked the recorded file sizes and noticed that the ones from the Manifest are from the .gz files on the mirror (which are also available for download). But the ebuild downloads the .bz2 files (not the .gz ones) and that's why the recorded filesizes in the Manifest don't match. A workaround is to download the .bz2 files manually to /usr/local/portage/distfiles, delete the Manifest and recreate it with ebuild dev-libs/libgpg-error-1.46-r1 digest. This fixes the wrongly recorded filesize and then installation is working. Seems to be a small error that occured when the Manifest was created. Probably the maintainer/author did wrongly download the gz files and saved them as bz2 erronously. Then the manifest was created with the wrong file sizes.
Please share the full output you've had. Note that your described scenario couldn't have happened because it's been in tree for weeks with everyone else able to install it.
What is possible however is that upstream mixed up the two files, retroactively fixed them, and your lack of a GENTOO_MIRRORS setting (hard to say without emerge --info, please share it; it's valid not to have one set but not a good idea) means you're exposed to it.

Unfortunately I don't have those logs anymore are they recorded anyhwere in /var/log or elsewhere? Cause after the installation worked I didn't care about them

Note that your GENTOO_MIRRORS values are stale too, but thanks for the output, it's helpful!
I can confirm that my output looked similar so it's the same problem. Glad that you still got the logs. I remember for example for the .sig file I also got the mismatch of Got: 238 Expected: 119 If I can help with anything I'm glad to help. But because of my workaround for me it installed now fine.
