It appears that app-office/sc is no longer maintained and has been abandoned upstream. This package hasn't seen any code updates in *about 20 years*. Additionally app-office/sc-im, a well maintained fork, was recently migrated to the main Gentoo repository from GURU. This is a fully functional replacement with many additional features. Nobody is losing anything by giving this package last rites.
