The problems run deep here, eautoreconf fixes the strncpy issues but there's tons of incompatible pointer types (one also seem to use the wrong function altogether). Considered a bad -Wno-error=incompatible but then also hit some nonsense function usage wrt bug #874114, and probably keeps going. ofc C2x deprecations too. Not many distro left still packaging it, may be worth looking into last riting along with its few revdeps where it's not optional.
