With previous wayfire-0.7.2 there was at least a (quirky) way to share the desktop in firefox in video conferences. With wayfire-0.7.3 this does not work anymore. See my upstream issue: https://github.com/WayfireWM/wayfire/issues/1526 FYI: I can reproduce that by toggling between wayfire-0.7.2 and 0.7.3.
This can be fixed by upgrading wlroots from 0.15.0 to 0.15.1 (currently marked unstable).

FWIW I'd say it was premature to close the bug if there's something we can do in Gentoo to help with it. I've gone ahead and increased the wayfire dep which should help.
Indeed, a new r1 ebuild with updated wlroots deps is surly the better way. Will adjust to the Gentoo's wonts... Thanks for the impressively fast creation of it. I've tested the new ebuild and it works here. BTW: You mentioned to adjust the 9999, too, according to the recent changes of 0.7.3. FYI: I tried so last week but it did not go through due to some internal meson issues currently.
