Summary tells all, please see https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/-/issues/587
Also of interest: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/issues/10999 With gajim-1.3.3 as stable, highest stable version of python-nbxmpp should be 2.0.6. Upgrading to unstable Gajim-1.4.2 (1.4.0 not working!) makes the python-nbxmpp-3.0.2 ok. So stable with stable, unstable with unstable should be the way.
I think newer versions of Gajim in Gentoo pin the version of nbxmpp, fwiw.
