Hi there, just letting you know that there are new nVIDIA GLX drivers out and I'd really like them in portage! Thanks in advance! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
You know that there's no reason for 0-day bugs, right?
Created attachment 53207 [details] nvidia-drivers-1.0.7167.tar.bz2 Here are my ebuilds that I have created. They build and appear to work for me. They were only tested on x86, at the moment, so amd64 needs testing.
Tarball is for nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel + patches... I didn't touch nvidia-settings, because I don't use it... :P
Chris, why do you need to attach the whole clump? What's different from the last release?
Works for me, nVidia 5900FX on amd64.
Been in portage for about 2 and a half to 3 hours now ;p
Oh, crap, so I forgot to look at nvnews.net :/ I'll add the missing two patches now ...
spyderous: to answer the question, there were 2 patches that have been released already, so those were there. As far as the ebuilds were concerned, for nvidia-kernel, just removing all the 6629 patches and adding the 2 7167 patches was all. For nvidia-glx, it was as simple as renaming the patches.
Please take a look at bug 84945 for a minor enhancement. (Use pkg0 instead of pkg1.)
What about the droped support for older NV cards? I think those with older graphic cards (like me, geforce 256 DDR) get in trouble when they update the new nvidia-kernel. see: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-7664/README.txt then: III. Appendices A. Supported NVIDIA Graphics Chips Any idea how to make the transition from nvidia-kernel to nvidia-lagacy as uncomplicated as possible?
