I'm not really sure what's going on here.

I've tried:
- changing 'eselect ruby' just in case;
- depcleaning all of Ruby;
- varying RUBY_TARGETS in make.conf

but the same thing seems to happen again when trying to emerge rdoc for handling bug 828125.

I assume this part is relevant:
>Ignoring racc-1.5.2 because its extensions are not built. Try: gem pristine racc --version 1.5.2
Comment 2 Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2022-02-01 06:52:21 UTC
Which version of racc do you have installed?

It looks like you have old versions of gems with a very new rubygems version. That won't work, unfortunately.

It's a chroot and I don't think I had anything Ruby installed after depcleaning it all, but it still happens when I try emerge -v1 rdoc again. I'll try it again now.

Anything I can run to give more useful info?

I don't have anything in /usr/local/* or seemingly in ~.

You didn't include version numbers. On stable things should still work. On testing as well, since racc-1.5.2-r1 should install the extension properly.

If you mix testing and stable then it is currently still easy to break things (if rubygems is testing and individual packages are stable.

I'm not trying to mix, it's meant to be pure ~arch (see emerge --info above).

I completely missed that you were using x86 here. Should be fixed now.
