Description John Myers 2005-02-23 21:41:42 UTC
Compiling wine on amd64 requires much, much tweaking of the system and build environment. I still haven't gotten it to work. Right now I'm working on getting a 32-bit libglut. Wine doesn't even come close to being ready for prime time on ~amd64.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run ~amd64
2. emerge wine

Actual Results:
massive failures of many descriptions. See bug 82758.

Expected Results:
Either not tried to emerge, or emerged successfully.

Wine ebuild on amd64 will eventually be possible via multilib. However, this
will not be the case for a long while.

hmm... After seeing further progress on bug 82758, perhaps it will be sooner than I predicted. However, ~amd64 should be removed until both the wine ebuild and its dependencies are fixed to allow it.

As was stated by the wine maintainer in bug #82758 the current ebuilds should now work ok. If you are still having issues with the latest ebuild then I suggest that you file a bug stating the issue/error so that the problem can be resolved.
