APR (ab)uses AC_TRY_RUN to determine if: * We have /dev/zero * We can mmap /dev/zero The APR ebuild sets ac_cv_file__dev_zero=yes when cross compiling to fill in an answer for the first question, but the configure script immediately defeats that when answering the second. The configure script sets conflicting #defines, and the preprocessor produces code that doesn't compile: locks/unix/proc_mutex.c:1494:28: error: ‘mutex_proc_pthread_methods’ undeclared (first use in this function); did you mean ‘mutex_posixsem_methods’? 1494 | new_mutex->meth = &mutex_proc_pthread_methods; Attached is a patch which changes APR's configure script when cross compiling to rely on /dev/zero to be mmap-able.
