The current homepage in Gentoo for sys-fs/e2tools indicates the project has moved to https://github.com/e2tools/e2tools and there is a newer version tagged in that repository.

"e2tools-0.1.0 is the first release after original author Keith Sheffield's e2tools homepage has disappeard. e2tools-0.1.0 merges the two diverging e2tools branches by Christoph Gysin and Hans Ulrich Niedermann and will be maintained further."

An unfortunate reuse of version numbering :)
