Yeah, you're reading it right. This isn't a problem _per se_ for now, we need to wait for a new version of docutils to come out, but if they take a while, we'll need to patch it or similar. It can be safely ignored for the time being.

HINT: In my case, I detected app-emulation/qemu having "doc" enabled by default: . . . . . IUSE="... +doc" Disabling this via a "-doc" entry in /etc/portage/package.use, the one and only culprit pulling dev-python/docutils had been eradicated. HTH P.S.: Created Bug 830088

Has there been any movement on this? The (rather drastic, imo) action of disabling docs system-wide doesn't seem like a legitimate fix. Is there any reason sphinx_rtd_theme can't just be bumped up to depend on docutils 0.17.1?

We just have to wait for newer sphinx_rtd_* to be released whith works with newer docutils. There's no need to disable docs system wide. Just ignore the _warning_ (it's not an error).
