I see that games-misc/games-envd-0 has recently been deprecated with a removal date of 2021-05-09 (https://bugs.gentoo.org/574082) I'm not sure what is involved in moving away from games-misc/games-envd-0. This bug report is more of a case of "raising a flag" than anything else. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install games-fps/quake3, which also draws in games-fps/quake3-data and games-fps/quake3-teamarena 2. `equery d games-misc/games-envd-0` 3. the aforementioned packages are listed as depending on games-misc/games-envd-0 I'm not even sure if this is the correct way to raise awareness of this issue - apologies if there's a better way (and please let me know what it is)
assigning to games team. we no longer have quake3 in the repository btw,it was removed in 2019. maybe you still have those installed from old times?
as a quake3 fan, I can recommend this overlay with quake3 ebuild that will probably work =) https://github.com/trofi/slyfox-gentoo/tree/master/games-fps/quake3

See https://bugs.gentoo.org/785868#c1 (But thank you for reporting! Itβs better to be safe for sure.)
Thanks, unmerging quake3 & depclean'ing then adding the skyfox overlay & installing from there worked a treat, after a little unmasking. FWIW, it looks like the build there would be super-easy to incorporate into the main gentoo repo - it already supports specific versioning and a 9999 for git head. Though I'm by no means an ebuild expert - so there may be something missing.
